Hollywood & Vine Dinner Review [2026 Gluten Free & Food Allergy Options]
This gluten free dining experience took place in July 2026. It includes information about dairy free options, as well as fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, chicken/turkey & cabbage allergies.
Dinner at Hollywood & Vine
Hollywood & Vine, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is a table service restaurant with an all-you-care-to-enjoy menu and characters. As the park’s only character dining location, it offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with seasonal character themes and outfits. The seasonal outfit changes for Minnie, Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy is what keeps us coming back to Hollywood & Vine. It’s the only Disney character meal we can think of that does change outfits seasonally. On this visit, we dined during the Summer Dine theme.
Atmosphere
Hollywood & Vine has been around Hollywood Studios for what feels like forever. It does have a bit of a dated feel, and not just because it’s supposed to resemble classic Hollywood diners but because you can tell it was constructed when the park originally opened. It hasn’t been updated in forever, which can be nice from a Disney nostalgia point of view.

I do absolutely love the old neon that you can find at the restaurant’s entrance on the signage. The outside does give you the diner vibe and even the cast member outfits resemble what you might see at a classic diner.

If you’re dining at Hollywood & Vine, do take some time to look at the windows around the restaurant. One of our favorite nods is to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Because we visited during the Summertime Dine, there was a lot of beach inspired details added to the restaurant. When you first walk in, you can take a photo in front of the pop up display with a beach background and the summertime logo. I would say the restaurant has limited theming for the seasonal options, though I do find that the Halloween and Holiday seasonal dines have a bit more decor to them.

I do love a lot of the original wall art that you can find at Hollywood & Vine. It really does give you the “old Hollywood” feels. Even with a more diner style theme, I do really love some of those detailed touches on the murals.

Of course, what we’re really going to Hollywood & Vine are the characters. One of the things we love most about Hollywood & Vine is their character interactions and special outfits. We have found over the years that while the food is just OK, this character location is one of the best for good character interactions. We always find we get plenty of time to interact and meet the characters multiple times.

In fact, on this visit, we had some super fun interactions with the characters, especially Mickey Mouse who had a lightsaber duel with Brandon (you can see that footage in our YouTube video review).
The Food
Like most Disney operated restaurants, Hollywood & Vine does offer an allergen guide for their buffet. For guests with special dietary needs, you can use this to navigate the top 9 commons allergens and the buffet options. If you feel comfortable, you can eat items directly from the buffet using this guide. However, if you have special dietary needs outside of this guide or if you don’t feel comfortable eating off the buffet, you can ask to speak to a chef and they can bring items from the kitchen to you to avoid cross-contamination.

On this occasion, we did speak with the chef and have our food brought directly from the kitchen. Because I have celiac disease and Brandon has multiple food allergies, we feel most comfortable dining at Disney operated buffets this way.
The chef was quite busy on this visit, as he was also taking care of other guests, so we knew that our meal might take a little bit longer than usual. We’re OK with waiting generally, because we’d rather be safe and eat in a way that is comfortable to us versus eating directly off the buffet.

As you can see, we were served a variety of plates. Some of the items were safe for both of us, and there were several plates with items just for one of us. We are used to navigating cross-contamination with each other, so we always divide up our food at the beginning so that no one gets sick.

We were served some gluten free and allergy-friendly Bloomfield Farms brand rolls. These came with regular butter, but you can also ask for non-dairy butter too. We always enjoy these rolls, though they weren’t the best heated on this visit.

We also got custom house salads. Because Brandon is allergic to vegetables in the cabbage family, many greens are not safe for him to consume. We were able to get plain romaine for our salads, along with some vegetables, cheese, and ranch dressing. This is a gluten free salad but can be easily made dairy free by omitting the cheese and ordering the vinaigrette currently served.

Hollywood & Vine currently has two carved meats available — ham and flank steak. Both are gluten free and dairy free and safe for Brandon’s allergies (fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, poultry, and cabbage family vegetables).
Brandon really enjoyed the flank steak with chimichurri (also gluten free & dairy free), but I found it to be a bit rare. I liked the ham but did find it to be overcooked.

We also both got the sour cream mashed potatoes (gluten free but not dairy free). Brandon loved them, but I did not enjoy them at all. If you do like potatoes and especially very dairy filled potatoes, you will probably like these.
My favorite, however, were the crispy Brussels sprouts. Oh my Mickey were these good. They are gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. And honestly, these are one of the main foodie items at Hollywood & Vine that I love. The sprouts are so crispy and well seasoned. I absolutely love them, and they just might be some of the best Brussels sprouts at Disney World.

I also got my other favorite Hollywood & Vine dish — crispy tofu with stiry fry vegetables. Wow, wow, wow. The tofu is so good. A bit of sweet and spicy soy glaze sauce and delicious veggies. The tofu dish is gluten free, dairy free & vegan. I could literally just eat this, some white rice, and the Brussels sprouts at Hollywood & Vine and be happy. So good. Highest of high recommends.

I also got a new spinach and chickpeas dish since were at Hollywood & Vine last year. This definitely had a spicy kick, and I loved that it was another flavorful gluten free, dairy free & vegan option, but it wasn’t my favorite of the meal. Still, I love how many plant-based items there are on this menu.

I also got the Pork Fried Rice — another surprise gluten free and dairy free dish. This was also extremely good, and one I would get again. No notes.

For dessert, Brandon got the gluten free, dairy free & vegan house made brownie with fresh fruit. We usually get this as our dessert option at Hollywood & Vine and do enjoy it. It’s a pretty dense brownie but tasty. If you do like ice cream or non-dairy ice cream, I recommend ordering it with an ice cream option (they carry both dairy filled and dairy free ice cream options).

I opted to try the new to me gluten free, dairy free & vegan Peach Cobbler. I do love peach so I was excited about this, but this was the most underwhelming thing I ate at Hollywood & Vine. The crumble was rock hard and very unpleasant. I also didn’t find the flavor to be particularly good. I would skip this and order the brownie next time. While I appreciate that they are giving us other GFDF and vegan options, this one was just not good.

Overall
We always enjoy a good seasonal dine at Hollywood & Vine. We really love the seasonal character outfits and themes and the exceptional character interaction. The food itself is just OK. There are some really outstanding dishes (I’m looking at you tofu and Brussels sprouts), but generally, the food is a bit lackluster. Still, it’s plentiful and there are a lot of gluten free, dairy free, and even plant-based options. Our biggest con of this restaurant is the noise and chaotic nature of a character meal. It can be a little stimulating overload, so if that’s something of concern, we would recommend dining here at off times versus peak dinner time (when we went) to make the experience more enjoyable. If you do want a good theme, we highly recommend the Halloween and Holiday themes to dine at for Hollywood & Vine.
