Tony’s Town Square Dinner Review [2026 Gluten Free & Food Allergy Options]
This gluten free dining experience took place in February 2026. It includes information about dairy free options, as well as fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, chicken/turkey & cabbage allergies.
Dinner at Tony’s Town Square
Tony’s Town Square, located on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom, is a table service restaurant that has a bit of a reputation of being one of the worst restaurants at Disney World. Honestly, I’ve avoided eating at Tony’s for the longest time because of this. The menu has never been particularly appealing and the restaurant itself seems pretty dated. But, Brandon and I have received so many questions from followers asking us about Tony’s Town Square, so we decided it was finally time to give it a try and see if it really did rank as one of the worst restaurants at Disney. Spoiler alert: We were very surprised, in a good way.
Atmosphere
Tony’s Town Square is inspired by the animated film, Lady and the Tramp, and the restaurant featured in it. Set on Main Street U.S.A., the exterior has a turn of the century vibe, complete with an outdoor dining area that is Victorian era inspired too.

The restaurant is one of the first building that you’ll see on Main Street, and it’s connected to the space where you can meet Mickey Mouse too. We found that the check-in area was a bit chaotic because of this connection to the entrance of the Mickey character meeting and the art gallery space effectively being in the same large open room. But, the air conditioning is good in this space, so if you need a cool spot to rest, it could be a good one for you.
This is also the space where you meet for some Magic Kingdom tours, like Keys to the Kingdom, which we took back in the summer of 2024.

The restaurant has three dining room seating areas. The first is the interior dining room, which we were seated in. The second is a covered verandah inside, and the third is a front porch that is covered but open air — meaning it will be on the warm side depending on the time of year you dine at Tony’s Town Square. If you do have any seating requests, we recommend noting them when you check in.
The Food
Like most Disney operated restaurants, Tony’s Town Square does have an allergy-friendly menu. You can also always speak directly to a chef if you wish to discuss options or modifications. Our server recommended that we speak directly to a chef because of Brandon’s multiple food allergies. The chef was very accommodating and so helpful on this visit. He went over many different options, reviewing the iPad of ingredients with us and ensuring we were comfortable with the choices available to us.
Gluten Free Bread Service at Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
Up first, we were served complimentary bread service, which included Bloomfield Farms brand allergy-friendly rolls and extra virgin olive oil with herbs. The chef also brought us a side dish of Parmesan Fonduta that typically comes with the additional charge (and definitely not gluten free) Tony's Garlic Bread For The Table. This was such a nice touch, and we were glad that we were able to try it.
The rolls and olive oil with herbs were gluten free and dairy free. We both really enjoyed the olive oil with herbs. It was a perfect dipping sauce for the rolls. I don’t always love it when Disney restaurants heat the rolls up in their plastic packaging and serve them that way, but, we appreciate that the restaurant was trying to minimize any cross contamination concerns.
We also liked but didn’t love the parmesan fonduta. If you can have dairy, we honestly would probably skip this even if you can have it. We both found ourselves choosing the olive oil over the cheese. Still, if you’re gluten free and looking for a cheesy dipping sauce, this can be an option.
House Salad from Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
We also ordered the House Salad which were able to get with just romaine (since Brandon is allergic to several greens due to his cabbage family vegetable allergy) which came with a Balsamic Vinaigrette. This was marked gluten free and safe for Egg, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies.
If you’re gluten free and dairy free, this could be a good option. We both agreed that it wasn’t the most appetizing looking salad and presentation, but the flavors were fine, and we both liked the Balsamic Vinaigrette. The portion size was also quite large — perfect for sharing. We both agreed that we would get this again.
Salmon Piccata from Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
While there weren’t many items marked on the allergy-friendly menu as being safe if you’re gluten free, the chef said most can be made GF with some easy modifications. I opted for Salmon Piccata with potatoes, arugula, lemon, capers, and a white wine-butter sauce. The only gluten free modification needed for this dish was to swap the potatoes out for a roasted potato, as the ones that normally come with this dish are fried in a fryer with gluten.
Overall, I really enjoyed this dish. The salmon was actually very tasty and well seasoned. I liked the roasted potatoes, which were very well roasted and super creamy inside. The white wine butter sauce, which was the dairy containing component can be omitted if you’re GFDF. And honestly, I probably would skip it next time. It was good but didn’t add all that much to dish. I’m glad I asked for it on the side versus on the salmon too.
We dined here in February, and the springtime menu change happened in April. We noticed that this dish is already modified and now comes with Pan-roasted with Eggplant Caponata, Shaved Fennel Salad, Citrus Vinaigrette, and Basil Oil. I’d be super curious to try this version.
Braised Beef Giardiniera from Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For Brandon’s entree, he got the Braised Beef Giardiniera with potatoes and a zesty giardiniera relish. His dish was also modified gluten free and also for his special dietary needs to removed the arugula. It is modified GF by swapping out the potatoes and marked safe for Fish/Shellfish, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Sesame Allergies.
Like our salad, the presentation for this dish was not the prettiest by any means. But Brandon said it was actually very tasty. He liked the tender beef and the roasted potatoes. It was almost like a slightly spicy pot roast, which he enjoyed.
While Brandon would get it again, it looks like the spring menu updates has also seen this dish change. It is now described as Braised Beef in a Pepperoni Sauce with Tender Beef Slow-cooked with Caramelized Onions, Crispy Parmesan Potatoes, and Seasonal Vegetables. We’ll have to see if it’s still an option for him if we go back any time soon.
Plant-based Affogato from Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For dessert, Brandon got the Plant-Based Affogato, blending vanilla plant-based gelato and espresso — two of his favorite things. The chef indicated that this used to be Tofufutti brand non-dairy ice cream but that they have had supply issues and are currently using a local micro ice cream distributor called Molto!. This version was marked Gluten Free & and safe for Egg, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, and Sesame Allergies.
Brandon absolutely loved this and said he’d get it every time we go to Tony’s Town Square, if it’s still on the menu. You can’t go wrong with coffee, ice cream, and chocolate.
One note, I would ask your server or a chef when you go what kind of non-dairy ice cream they are using and what non-dairy milk is the base. It does sound like they vary from different brands, and what might be safe on one visit may not be on another.
Flourless Chocolate Cake from Tony’s Town Square / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For my dessert, I got the Flourless Chocolate Cake. This was marked Gluten Free and safe for Fish/Shellfish, and Sesame Allergies. If you’re dairy free, this is not a safe option, as the cake contains dairy. If you’re nut free, they can make this safe for you by omitting the pistachio cream.
Oh my Mickey was this a decadent dessert. The cake itself was very rich. I would actually recommend sharing it because of that. The pistachio cream was a highlight and really helped cut the richness from the cake. The cherry and pistachio combo was also very nice. If you can have dairy, this is a great gluten free dessert option.

Overall
We were both beyond surprised at how much we enjoyed our meal at Tony’s Town Square. We went into the experience with low expectations, and the restaurant well exceed those expectations…and then some. The chef was so helpful and accommodating, and we found the food to be actually quite tasty. While it wasn’t the best presentation we’ve ever seen at a Disney restaurant of the food itself, the flavors were all good, and we left feeling full and satisfied. We were also glad to see that there were more options than we anticipated too as far as gluten free and food allergies. If you’re looking for a dinner with hearty portions, moderate prices, and good allergy accommodations (and some excellent air conditioning), Tony’s Town Square could be a good option for you. We would definitely recommend it after dining here.
