Olivia’s Cafe Dinner Review [2026 Gluten Free & Food Allergy Options]
This gluten free dining experience took place in July 2026. It includes information about dairy free options, as well as fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, chicken/turkey & cabbage allergies.
Dinner at Olivia’s Cafe
Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a long-time favorite of Disney Vacation Club guests at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and often considered a hidden gem of a dining location on Disney World property. For us, Olivia’s Cafe has always just be so-so, mostly for the just OK food. We do love the atmosphere and incredible servers at this table service restaurant, but when it comes to favorites, Olivia’s does rank lower on our list. On this visit, we decided to head back for dinner. We hadn’t been to Olivia’s in quite some time. Our last visit was about 3 years ago for breakfast and even longer since we’ve been back for dinner. So, it was definitely time to head back to see what the current special diets options are now.
Atmosphere
You really can’t go wrong with the theme and general vibe of Disney’s Old Key West. It feels like you’re running on island time with lots of Jimmy Buffett music playing and a relaxed atmosphere. If you do have some time and aren’t staying at Old Key West, definitely take some time to walk around the grounds. The resort is beautiful. We were there at sunset after our dinner, and it was absolutely gorgeous.

Olivia’s Cafe is located near the resort’s main lobby and check-in. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has both indoor and outdoor seating. You’ll also find the resort’s gift shop is conveniently located…and offers some welcome air conditioning if you happen to have a bit of a wait for your table at Olivia’s.

On our visit, we noticed a cast member with a very fun sign that we could pose with. This is such a fun addition to the resort, and of course, we had to take a photo.

The interior of Olivia’s Cafe honestly hasn’t changed much in the going on 3 decades that I’ve been going there. They have done some refurbishments over the years, but the decor is generally the same. It’s kitchsy with lots of nicknacks and collectibles throughout.

You’ll definitely know that you’re eating somewhere inspired by Key West, with old photos, road side signs, and fish. I have to admit that it always feels super chill in Olivia’s Cafe. And, if you are looking for a restaurant with that kind of atmosphere, you’ll really love the restaurant for that.
The Food
As a Disney owned and operated restaurant, you’ll find that Olivia’s Cafe does have an allergy-friendly dinner menu. This menu covers the top 9 common allergens, and you can order directly from it if you feel comfortable doing so; or, you can also talk directly to a chef. We do often talk to a chef because Brandon’s allergies are outside of the top common allergens. On this occasion we spoke to a chef directly to order. This very helpful to talk through some specific modifications for us.
Allergy-Friendly Rolls at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
Up first, we were brought complimentary gluten free and allergy-friendly Bloomfield Farms brand rolls with butter. You can also get non-dairy butter if you ask. The rolls were well heated on this visit, and they are always a nice way to start your meal.
Market Salad at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
To start, we split the Seasonal Market Salad. This salad was heavily modified for us, because Brandon is allergic to many of greens (he’s allergic to cabbage family vegetables). The chef made us a version of the salad with just romaine lettuce. Our version was gluten free and the standard version of this salad is also marked safe for egg, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Sesame Allergies.
Normally the salad includes Edamame, Mandarin Orange, Quinoa, and Key Lime Vinaigrette. The version online was totally different than the paper menu we received. We asked for no quinoa, so our salad came with just edamame and mandarin oranges.
We did ask for extra Key Lime Vinaigrette, and we highly recommend this. The vinaigrette is super tasty, and we found our salad to be very lightly dressed. Overall, we thought this was fine, but I don’t think we’d order it again.
Gluten Free Modified Burger at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For Brandon’s entree, he got the Bacon Jam Cheeseburger on a gluten free bun. His version was modified gluten free and for his allergies. He was able to get French Fries made in a dedicated fryer just for fries. So, if you’re gluten free, dairy free, vegan or have other allergies, these will be a safe option.
The burger is marked safe for Fish, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Sesame Allergies (the onions are fried in a fryer with fish). Since Brandon is allergic to fish & shellfish, he was unable to get the onions with the burger.
Overall, he really liked it and said it was better than he expected. He doesn’t always prefer a gluten free bun, but he said it was still good and ate every bite. If you’re gluten free and dairy free and looking for a burger, they can make you a GFDF version too.
Mahi Mahi at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For my entree, I ordered the Mahi Mahi with fingerling potatoes, chili crunch, Brussels sprouts, and chardonnay beurre blanch. This was marked gluten free and safe for Egg, Peanut, and Shellfish Allergies. If you’re dairy free, this dish is easy to modified DF by omitting the sauce.
This dish actually really surprised me…in a good way! I was expecting it to be a bit on the bland side. It was anything but. The beurre blanc was nice, but I actually think it wasn’t that needed. The chili crunch, seasoning on the fish, and the roasted flavor from the vegetables made this a very tasty meal.
I think the vegetables were actually the star of this dish. The Brussels sprouts were insanely delicious, super crispy and crunchy, and had a perfect roast to them. I also loved the potatoes, because #PotatoesForLife. The fish itself was tasty but a bit overcooked.
I would definitely recommend this dish and would order it again without hesitation.
Lime Dole Whip at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For dessert, Brandon got an off menu option — Lime Dole Whip. Like all fruit flavors of Dole Whip, this was gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. Brandon really loved this and said it was the perfect refreshing way to end the meal.
Gluten Free Flourless Chocolate Cake at Olivia’s Cafe / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For my dessert, I ordered the Chocolate Torte, based on our server’s recommendation. This is gluten free and marked safe for Fish/Shellfish, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Sesame Allergies. This does contain dairy and cannot be modified.
While I enjoyed this, the dessert is very rich. It’s a good shareable option. I do really miss the gluten free, dairy free, and vegan brownie they were serving for a while that was honestly better in my opinion. I’d recommend if you love chocolate, but for me, I probably would skip it next time.

Overall
While Olivia’s might not rank in our top choices for table service dining at Disney World, we both really appreciate how above and beyond the chef was at our visit to ensure we had safe and tasty options. The dinner itself was good, moderately priced (for Disney), and just a good time. We both said that we need to go back to Olivia’s Cafe sometime soon to try breakfast again since it’s been a while. We can see why people do continue to love and come back to Olivia’s year after year. The cozy vibe and easy going menu make it a low-key spot for dinner.
