Yak & Yeti Restaurant Dinner Review [2025 Gluten Free & Food Allergy Options]

This gluten free dining experience took place in November 2025. It includes information about dairy free options, as well as fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, chicken/turkey & cabbage allergies.

Lunch at Yak & Yeti Restaurant

Yak & Yeti Restaurant, located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is a 3rd party operated table service restaurant that serves Pan-Asian style food. Over the years, it has been one of our favorite restaurants in the park, because of its gluten free and food allergy friendly options and more reasonable price point compared to the other table service restaurants in the park. On this visit, we stopped by for dinner before going to the DVC member preview of the new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction in the park.

Atmosphere

Yak & Yeti is located in the fictional Anandapur section of the Animal Kingdom park. There’s an entire backstory about it too. The restaurant is supposed to be merchant’s home that has been turned into a hotel and restaurant. Because of this backstory, you’ll find that Yak & Yeti is inspired by Southeast Asia with artifacts from various locations.

We absolutely love the design of Yak & Yeti and find ourselves always looking around at the various decor and theme.

The restaurant is two levels, and we especially like dining upstairs with views of the park — perfect for people watching.

Even if you don’t dine upstairs, we recommend you take some time to look around the restaurant. It’s highly themed, and there are so many things to look at.

The Food

Beyond the theme, we find the food at Yak & Yeti to be very tasty. Operated by Landry’s (who also operates Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex Cafe), the restaurant does not have the same type of allergy-friendly menu as Disney operated restaurants. But, they do offer a gluten sensitive menu/allergen menu.

We personally always ask to speak directly with a chef at this location, because there are some items on the gluten sensitive menu that are not safe if you have celiac disease or are gluten sensitive — like fries being made in a shared fryer. The chefs are very good here and will walk you through safe options, including those not listed on that menu.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant Tofu Lettuce Cups

We don’t often get starters, but we were both really hungry. We ended up getting the Tofu Lettuce Cups which are made gluten free by swapping out the gluten-filled soy sauce for GF tamari. These cups were also dairy free and vegan.

Brandon was a bit dubious about this appetizer but ended up really loving it. The tofu was crispy and very well seasoned. The freshness of the cool lettuce cups, shredded tofu, bean sprouts & fresh cilantro made this a winning combination of textures, flavors, and temperature. We were also served GF tamari on the side.

This is an appetizer we would absolutely get again and recommend. The only downside of this was the price. The lettuce cups with ground chicken was $20.99 and to swap out tofu, we were charged an additional $5.99. The tofu portion was small, so if you’re looking for a large shareable, this might not be it. We both wanted more tofu, especially for the price point.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant GF Grilled Salmon

For my entree, I ordered the Atlantic Salmon, which came with grilled salmon, jasmine rice, and steamed seasonal vegetables. This is GF and can be made dairy free by omitting the garlic ginger butter on the fish.

Overall, this is a solid entree. And, it’s one I’ve gotten many times. The fish was very well cooked and very flavorful. The only slight bummer of this dish was that the vegetables did not contain bok choy, which is one of my favorite vegetables. Because of that, I did ask for a side dish of bok choy, since it’s a vegetable I love so much. If you do like fish dishes, I would recommend this option. It’s always solid.

Yak & Yeti Sautéed Bok Choy

The side of bok choy that I got was so good. Made with GF tamari and sauteed perfectly, it’s a great side dish and a huge portion that would be perfect for sharing. The price point was a bit steep at $11.99, so definitely a consideration if you’re ordering this. It’s a good GFDF and vegan option.

Yak & Yeti - GF Noodle Bowl

Brandon got his favorite entree at Yak & Yeti, which is the GF Beef Stir-Fry. Versions of this are listed on the menu, but the steak is an additional request that we have to make since Brandon is allergic to chicken and shrimp.

Brandon’s dish is always made gluten free, because the regular sauce also contains fish. We also have to make sure he gets an un-marinated steak. They also swap out vegetables for him, since he’s allergic to cabbage, which would include bok choy. Essentially, he gets a GFDF rice noodle stir fry with steak, carrots & onions, which he absolutely loves.

I’ve had variations of this stir-fry myself and can attest that it’s very good. If you’re looking for a good stir-fry, it’s our go-to at Disney World. Plus, it’s GFDF with minimal modifications.

Overall

If you like Pan-Asian style food, you’ll want to head to Yak & Yeti for a meal. We appreciate the a la carte options, the flexible menu, and vibe of the restaurant. Even as a 3rd party restaurant, it ranks high in the Animal Kingdom for dining and a location we always recommend. Neither of us have gotten sick when eating at Yak & Yeti, and we’ve appreciated that the restaurant and chefs have been very accommodating over the years. We’ll be back again soon for one of our birthdays to use our Landry’s Select birthday reward!
