The Beak and Barrel Review [2025 Gluten Free & Food Allergy Options]
*This gluten free dining experience took place in September 2025. It includes information about dairy free options, as well as fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, chicken/turkey & cabbage allergies.
Eating and Drinking at The Beak and Barrel
The Beak and Barrel, located in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom, is the parks’s first bar themed after all things pirate. Opening at the end of August 2025, this new location includes both small bites and drinks. Of course, we had to get reservations to channel our inner pirate and set sail for good food, drink, and adventure.
Atmosphere
Located directly next to Pirates of the Caribbean (and very close to the Lightning Lane return line for the attraction), The Beak and Barrel features heavy theming and a fun backstory. Founded by Captain Merry Goldwyn, this bar features Rummy, her parrot quartermaster. If you spend any time in this location, you’ll see Rummy near the bar, as he keeps everyone full of libations and entertainment.

The entrance features a large sign that lets you know X marks the spot for this welcoming haven for swashbucklers and landlubbers.

There are four distinct areas in the bar: The Mess, the Cursed Bar, Captain’s Quarters, and Mapmaker’s Room. Somehow, we completely missed the Mapmaker’s Room on our visit. You can see that everything is very heavily themed. Though time is limited when you visit The Beak and Barrel, we encourage you to spend some time looking around. There’s so much detail!

Although there is not a guarantee where you’ll be seated or if you’ll be sharing a table with fellow pirates, we did request a table on this visit. We were seated in the Captain’s Quarters at a two-top table.

There were also large booths for bigger parties and a variety of other table settings in the Captain’s Quarters. The Mess and Cursed Bar area was more standing and large shared tables.

The Imagineers did a fantastic job with the theme of this bar. Every inch, nook & cranny of this location has something to look at. You’ll feel like Captain Jack Sparrow might be coming around the corner at any moment.

We loved some of the design work and the interactive features of the bar. There was a lot going on, and there were even some fun surprises that we won’t spoil but were so fun. The cast members were all very into the theme and their characters, which we appreciated.

Despite the strict 45 minute time limit when we visited, we did find that we had a good amount of take turns looking around the bar — but we both agreed that we need a second visit to see more of it. A+ overall on all things theming.
The Food and Drink
The bar itself has a limited small bites menu, and they offer an allergy-friendly menu with these options for those guests with special dietary needs. We were also able to speak with a chef directly on this visit, which was helpful, especially for Brandon’s food allergies and to ask about potential modifications.

We really appreciated that all of the menu items were marked gluten free with no modifications needed. The chef did let us know that the Island Provisions could be modified to be GF by omitting the toasted flatbread, and it could be made dairy free and vegan too (more on that in a minute).
The Beak and Barrel Port of Call / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
Of course, no visit to a pirate themed bar would be complete without some cocktails. There is a two drink limit per guest age 21+. I ordered the Port of Call which included London Dry Gin, Ruby Port, Lemon Juice, and Spiced Cranberry. You might be saying, “Where is the rum?” I’m not a huge rum fan, but this drink sounded very interesting.
It wasn’t my favorite cocktail, but if you like port wine you’ll likely enjoy this. It was very port wine heavy. I’m not sure I’d order it again, but I also don’t love a lot of sweet drinks, and this seemed to be one of the few drinks that was less sweet. Properly warned ye be if you’re not a sweet drink fan too.
The Beak and Barrel - Barrels Ablaze / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
For Brandon’s first drink, he ordered Barrels Ablaze with Jack Daniel’s Bonded Bourbon, Honey, Lemon, and Chile. Neither of us liked this drink. Maybe it was a bad batch, but we did not taste much flavor, let alone any spiciness. Brandon said he’d try it again, but for us, this was not a winner or one we’d recommend.
As a side note, none of the bar drinks are going to be made to order. These, like the ones at Oga’s Cantina, are pre-mixed. We much prefer the made to order cocktails from bars like Geo-82.

For food, we started with Island Provisions. Our gluten free version came with Plantain Chips and Blue Corn Tortillas served with Mango Chutney, Garlic Chimichurri, Spiced Guava, and Zesty Cilantro Cream Dips. This was modified GF and marked safe for Fish/Shellfish, and Peanut/Tree Nut Allergies. We also cleared it for Brandon’s allergies that also included chicken/turkey and cabbage family vegetables.
*Note: If you’re dairy free, they can make this vegan/dairy free by omitting the zesty cilantro dip.
Overall, this was our favorite dish from the menu. We both liked the plantain chips & tortilla chips, and the dips gave us Sanaa bread service vibes. In fact, the mango chutney was virtually identical to what we’ve had at Sanaa. We both would recommend this, and it’s the dish we’d order every visit.
The Beak and Barrel Corn Griddle Cake & Kraken’s Catch / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
We also got the Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Roasted Corn and Poblano Peppers with Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija. This dish was marked gluten free and safe for Egg, Fish/Shellfish, Peanut/Tree Nut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies. It does contain dairy and cannot be modified.
We both really liked this griddle cake. The flavors were nice, and it felt very substantial as far as portions go. Watch out for the chili peppers though. They packed a punch!
Because Brandon is allergic to seafood, he didn’t try the next dish, but I ordered the Kraken’s Catch with Octopus Tentacles marinated in Lemon and Lime Juice with Olives, Bell Peppers, Avocado, and Piquillo Pepper-Almond Foam. It was marked GF and safe for Egg, Fish, Milk, Peanut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies. This dish was GFDF as is.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t particularly excited about this dish. I’m not a big fan of octopus so this wasn’t super appealing to me. But, for science I had to try it. Overall, it was very refreshing and perfect for a hot Florida day. It was better than I expected, but I can’t recommend it if you’re adverse to more fishy seafood flavors. This was a one and done for me, but I am glad that I tried it.
The Beak and Barrel Corn - Siren’s Whisper / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW
Because of timing, I skipped a second drink, but Brandon got the Siren’s Whisper with Pot & Column Still White Rum Blend, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Combier Crème de Pêche de Vigne Liqueur, Lime, and Cinnamon.
This tiny but mighty drink packed a punch, according to Brandon. He said it was much better than his first drink. If you’re looking for a colorful Instagrammable drink, this one could be the one for you.

Overall
The Beak and Barrel is a fun new addition to the Magic Kingdom that fits perfectly on theme with Pirates of the Caribbean and Adventureland. It’s going to be a popular spot for a very long time. Although we like some other bar options better at Disney World, we really like The Beak and Barrel for some themed drinks and food. We’re also really appreciative of the chefs ensuring there were several gluten free and allergy-friendly options, despite the limited menu. We will definitely be back again for some drinks and that Island Provisions appetizer.
