Thanksgiving is a holiday where guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort like to indulge in turkey and all the trimmings. However, what do you do if you have a special diet? Guests with food allergies and intolerances and other dietary needs need not worry when visiting the parks & resorts during this time of year, because there are tons of options available. Whether you’re looking for a traditional turkey feast or a quick bite that’s Turkey Day inspired, you’ll find lots of great options that cover many special dietary needs. Of course, always check with cast members at each restaurant location and the Walt Disney World Special Diets Department — and don’t forget to make those holiday ADRs well in advance!

Traditional Dinners

If you are looking for a traditional holiday meal, look no further than Liberty Tree Tavern. This location serves family style meals for dinner and an a la carte lunch menu. Dinner at Liberty Tree is made up of Thanksgiving favorites and guests who are gluten free and dairy free can rejoice in the fact that they can enjoy many of these favorites too. The Bill of Fare consists of:

Declaration Salad – Tossed mixed greens with house-made dressing
Patriot’s Platter – Roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and sliced pork, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb-bread stuffing and macaroni and cheese

Guests who are gluten free & dairy free can enjoy the salad with no modifications. They can also enjoy special dietary rolls (which are currently GNI brand) and even Earth Balance vegan margarine. Each of the three meats are GF/DF. Liberty Tree also makes dairy free mashed potatoes (hurrah!) and GF/DF gravy. Yes, gravy! Add the seasonal vegetables and you have a proper Pilgrim’s Feast. Dessert includes a seasonal sorbet, but you’ll probably be too stuffed by the time you get to it. You can read about Liberty Tree Tavern in my most recent review HERE. The great news about this location is that you can get this holiday feast year-round. Craving Thanksgiving dinner in June? Liberty Tree Tavern has you covered!

Quick Service Fare

Your best bets for quick service locations that will offer Thanksgiving inspired fare that will provide some safe options are those located in the resorts. Value resorts, such as Pop Century, All Stars, and Art of Animation will have have some type of holiday fare served throughout the day.

In the parks? Check out locations like Sunshine Seasons which will already be serving a Thanksgiving menu throughout the day on the big Turkey Day. They are already well known for accommodating gluten free and special diets diners.

And looking for something totally not Thanksgiving related? There’s always those amazing allergy friendly chicken tenders! Head to Columbia Harbour House for my personal favorite version of these!

Who says you need to have a traditional meal to celebrate Thanksgiving? Grab a famous turkey leg, which is gluten free & dairy free at one of the various quick service and kiosk locations throughout the parks. This gives you a chance to enjoy your holiday turkey while on the go! Read more about these turkey legs in the November newsletter for the blog. Krista Joy from Disneyways.com tells us all about the turkey legs & how to get inspired for the Thanksgiving holiday.
