Splitsville — 2015 Gluten free Menu — Table Service — Downtown Disney

*This preview of the 2015 gluten free menu offerings took place in November 2014.Splitsville ChristmasBack in November 2013, I had the chance to share with you the newly released gluten free menu options at Splitsville located in Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs). Splitsville had introduced 16 dishes made to be gluten free on their menu. The dishes ranged from sushi to rice bowls and were a huge hit with special diets diners. My favorite dish from the first version of their gluten free menu was hands down the Fantasy Roll. Made with fresh salmon, ahi tuna, cucumber, avocado, and steamed shrimp rolled in soy paper and drizzled with spicy kimchee ponzu sauce, I could literally eat this on any given day. And while I love the rice bowls offered there, I almost always order the Fantasy Roll because I love it so much.Fantasy Roll SplitsvilleWhen I arrived to meet the Splitsville team, including partner Mark Gibson, Chef Patrick and Sales & Events Manager Kylie Pitts, I was greeted with my very favorite Fantasy Roll. Yes, my love of the Fantasy Roll is well known!Fantasy Roll SplitsvilleWhile diving into my Fantasy Roll, we also chatted about the new additional gluten free menu offerings. The team said that the rice bowls are among their biggest gluten free hits (and also hugely popular menu items overall). This year the menu now has another gluten free rice bowl offering: the Sushi Tuna Bowl.Filled with seared ahi tuna, avocado, carrots, and cucumbers tossed in kimchee ponzu and served over rice and drizzled with a spicy mayo, this is basically the rice bowl equivalent of the Fantasy Roll. So you can imagine how much I adored this. The ahi tuna is super fresh and seared perfectly and that kimchee ponzu is one of my favorite sauces for sushi based dishes. It's sweet and spicy and a perfect accompaniment to the fresh fish. I have to say that I think Splitsville hit it out of the park with this rice bowl. It's so good. And, I know have a very strong competitor of the Fantasy Roll when I dine at Splitsville!Tuna Rice Bowl SplitsvilleBecause I had tried the meat-based sushi bowls the last time, the team also shared with me the Spicy Veggie Bowl. This is the perfect vegetarian/vegan dish that also happens to be gluten free. It's made with broccoli, peppers, onions, mushrooms and kale in a spicy kimchee tataki sauce.Veggie Stirfry Bowl SplitsvilleThe Splitsville kitchen is continuing to make their gluten free pizza dough in-house. They make it with quinoa flour and other gluten free flours to create a more traditional pizza crust. Previously, they had a few options that were gluten free but now, you can also get their more popular versions made gluten free. This includes the Firebird, featured here and topped with blackened chicken, caramelized onions, mushrooms and jalapenos, drizzled with chipotle ranch. If you like spicy, this is a pizza for you. I've not had the pizza at Splitsville but I hear rave things about the unique topping offerings. Please note that if you are a Celiac be aware that they do bake their pizza in the same pizza oven as the gluten filled pizza, so cross contamination is at higher risk for this as both Mark and Chef Patrick noted.Firebird Pizza SplitsvilleAnother new offering for gluten free diners are dessert options that include cupcakes. Splitsville recently started getting gluten free cupcakes made from a local Orlando area baker who specializes in gluten free and allergy friendly cupcakes. The cupcakes are Splitsville's first gluten free addition to their dessert menu but if the positive guest feedback is any indication there may be more gluten free dessert options added in the future.Gluten Free Cupcake SplitsvilleThe team noted that the cupcakes will rotate weekly with various flavors and on my visit, they had a "Hostess" chocolate cupcake and a carrot cake cupcake. Both looked delicious, though unfortunately, I wasn't able to consume them because of the dairy used in the cupcakes. Gluten Free Cupcake SplitsvilleWhen you dine at Splitsville, simply let your server know about your special dietary needs and they will be happy to answer any questions that you might have about the menu. With new and updated menu offerings for gluten free diners, there's certainly a lot to choose from when you visit Splitsville. A big thank you to the team at Splitsville for inviting me to check out their updated menu offerings and for continuing to be creating innovative and delicious gluten free options, as well as listening to guest feedback and ensuring guest food allergy safety.I'm looking forward to visiting again soon. Now the question remains. Fantasy Roll or Sushi Tuna Bowl? You can find out more information about Splitsville including their full menu with gluten free options noted at: http://www.splitsvillelanes.com/location/orlando/ Disclamer: I was invited by the Splitsville team to try the new menu items; however, I was not required to write this post and all opinions are my own.
