It’s been a while since I’ve written a full post on Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, the allergy-friendly bakery located at Disney Springs. Of course, I go all the time to get my sweets fix, but I thought it might be nice to cover some of the new options in the bakery.
Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, formerly known as Babycakes NYC, is a bakery that is free of gluten/wheat, soy, dairy, egg, and is refined sugar free, vegan, and kosher. It’s also the only 100% gluten free bakery that I know of in the Orlando area.
Though Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC is very allergy friendly, they cannot claim to be nut free. Here are there disclaimers:
There is also a potential for cross-contamination with soy due to the use of Bob’s Red Mill products, so proceed as you see fit if you are soy free.
Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC offers a huge variety of products including donuts which is one of their big sellers. I really enjoy the Samoa donut, but love that they have so many options, including the most recent addition, the #OrlandoStrong donut (sales of this donut go to support the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting).
If you are looking for a cake donut, these will definitely help you get your donut fix. I prefer a more traditional yeast based donut, like the ones at Do-Rite Donuts in Chicago.
My favorite bakery items at Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC are the tea cake loaves. They are always excellent and are a consistently good bakery choice. My favorite is the lemon tea cake with glaze on it, and lately I’ve been eyeing the chocolate raspberry tea cake. It’s on my list to get the next time I visit.
If you go to the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian, you will be served several types of tea cake from Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC.
Another popular Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC item is the Bakery Sink. It’s a mixture of donuts, tea cakes, frosting, and whatever else they can throw in. It’s decadent and rich, and you will feel like you ate a Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream by the time you are done!
Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC also has coconut milk based soft serve in vanilla, chocolate, and swirl flavors. You can even get the soft serve on a gluten free cone and served with sprinkles. If you ask, they can also add a house-made vegan caramel sauce. This is still a treat I’ve yet to try, and I’m hoping to this summer!
While there are some other bakeries at Disney Springs, they have limited or not celiac friendly options and many are not safe for multiple dietary restrictions. I like the Sprinkles cupcakes and cookies, but they are only gluten free and not vegan. Amorette’s Patisserie is definitely not a celiac or nut allergy friendly location either. If you have a special dietary need, Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC is the place to go!
If you dine at many of the restaurants on Disney property, you can even find Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC offerings there too.
