Here is a review from the dessert party food tasting prior to the event:

As my co-hosts, Allergy Free Mouse, said on Twitter, “Somebody has to do it!” I recently attended a food tasting prepared by Disney’s Catered Events who are helping us organize this dessert party. I met with Chef Matt for a food tasting of all of the items on the menu. I also brought my mom and stepdad with me, who don’t have food allergies, to hear their opinions on the food. I have to say that WDW Catering really went above and beyond my expectations for the desserts. They were really conscientious of the food allergies and also very inventive in making a variety of desserts. I think you all will be thrilled!
We got to sample all of the items on the buffet, and they also had a mock-set up for the dessert buffet. They used Namaste mixes for the base of the products and used egg replacers, etc. Chef Matt is going to get us a list of all the ingredients and also will have things marked on the buffet. The food is going to be in individual dishes/crocks/plates. So here’s the rundown of the food.
The chocolate raspberry cupcake was a basic chocolate cake with fresh raspberries on it. It also had…edible gold leafing on it! Yep. Edible gold. Love that. It looked so fancy. We couldn’t take pictures backstage, so unfortunately, no pics to go w/the descriptions, hence the detail. Next up is the mini spiced donut with caramel apple–this was one of my favs. It’s a homemade donut with a caramel apple mixture made of apple, sugar, and apple juice that is reduced and caramelized. YUM! It had this delicious spicy flavor–cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Very holiday like. Chef Matt is planning on having a donut station where they make these donuts to order! I think that is going to be great. I mean where else have you ever seen an allergy friendly donut station?! Yep, that’s right…only at our party! 🙂
Up next is the strawberry parfait, which was my mom’s favorite item. It was a layered parfait made of strawberries, cake, and some sort of fruit infused water gelee. It had orange zest on the top with an edible flower. Beautiful! The peach blueberry cobbler was my hands down favorite dessert. The cobbler topping was insanely delicious. We each got a small crock/dish of it and I ate the entire thing pretty rapidly! The flavors were so good. I will note that there is bourbon in this (though you couldn’t really taste it). 
Next up is the lemon poppy seed cake. My mom who loves lemon poppy seed anything really liked this, and I loved the lemon glazed. (water and lemon juice and powdered sugar) I have to investigate the powdered sugar situation because I forget that some of them have cornstarch in them. Wish I would have remembered that before. As conscientious as Chef Matt was, I’m thinking it was ok, but stay tuned!
The last one was chocolate bites and these were very yummy. They were the same batter as the cake but with something to make them really moist and dusted with cocoa powder. Very yummy! 
Overall, I was super pleased with the dessert menu. Chef Matt was just so happy that we liked everything, and he really took the allergies very seriously, as well as coming up with creative and delicious dishes. I think everyone will be really happy.  The set-up for the event is also going to be really lovely–the mock set-up that they presented was just so gorgeous!
